About Us
Tanner and Kaitlyn Whitlock met at Montana State University in 2011. Now both alumni, they decided to plant their roots in Montana, where they started building Whitlock Performance Horses in 2016 (Formerly Electric Equine LLC).
Kaitlyn Montana Whitlock (Owner/ Trainer)
Kaitlyn is from Olympia, WA, where she grew up participating in equine and agriculture programs. For over 16 years she has been an avid equestrian, and competed in many different disciplines. She has experience with colt starting, english and western pleasure, show jumping, dressage, trail, reining, team penning, barrel racing, and various other speed games. At MSU Kaitlyn decided to turn her passion into a career, by graduating with a B.S. in Animal Science-Equine and Business Administration. While in school, she furthered her knowledge of proper nutrition and physical care, as well as equine conformation and how it determines movement. Kaitlyn spent a year in the colt starting class under Reata Brannaman where she developed a love for training colts to be soft, responsive, and confident, the essence of the natural horsemanship philosophy. Her life now revolves around horses; training, teaching, and competing.
Tanner Whitlock (Owner/ Operator)
Tanner is from Dubois, WY, where he grew up with a love of the outdoors, from snowmobiling to hunting, and a natural drive to be an entrepreneur. He graduated MSU with an Electrical Engineering degree and now works at an Engineering firm in Churchill, MT. When Tanner began traveling to rodeos riding saddle broncs, he developed the desire to work with horses and livestock. Tanner maintains the facilities at Whitlock Performance and helps Kate work the horses and start colts.
Maizy Jo & Barrett (Future Ranch Hands)
Maizy and Barrett are our tiny pride and joys. Maizy absolutely loves being outside and around her horses, and we hope that that love continues to grow as she grows. She enjoys riding her pony Titan and assisting with riding lessons. Barrett loves to pet the big ponies and watch his sister ride. Additional future tasks include: official farm hand, gate opener, and pony starter.
